SONY SOUNTINA

SONY SOUNTINA
Sony will release a spectacular new speaker system in Japan as early as June 20th. The so-called Sountina (a combination of the words sound and fountain) comes in the shape of a glass tube, which is 184.5 cm tall. To be more specific, the device measures 325×184.5×325mm and weighs 12.5 kg.
Sony said today they plan to sell their stylish speaker not only to affluent individuals but also to hotels, department stores and similar facilities. The Sountina is supposed to vibrate and produce high quality audio, which spreads 360 degrees around the device. On the bottom of the tube, LEDs in amber, purple and blue are installed. The light is reflected by a steel plate located on top of the speaker. The LED colors can be change with a remote control.
Buyers also get a subwoofer (13cm), a medium speaker (7cm), and a tweeter made of organic glass. The frequency response is 50Hz – 20 kHz. Inputs include analog RCA, digital coax, optical TOS and 2 channel linear PCM (stereo).
Oh, and the price is $9,600 (1,050,000 Yen).

MOBILE PHOTO PRINTER

ZINK TECHNOLOGY
Although you probably haven't shaken a Polaroid picture in quite some time, a bit of that allure is reportedly headed to your handhelds, as Massachusetts-based ZINK looks to deliver a pocket-sized printer that can be "embedded in any device" and shoot out photos sans ink. The sensational sounding product will initially be used to print 2- x 3-inch color photographs, and interestingly enough, won't require a single drop of liquid to form the images. In ZINK's system (another pic after the break), "images are created when a heated printer head comes into contact with a sheet of specialized paper," which is actually a polymer containing three crystalline layers. Varying temperatures and pressure points create the pixels of color, and just in case you figure out your latest printout doesn't showcase your eye color as well as you'd hoped, it's recyclable. The company's first offerings will likely be offered in a $99 standalone format or as a $199 camera / printer hybrid, while the snazzy paper will run you $19.95 for a pack of one hundred, but we're definitely holding off on this here invention until we see just how impressive (or not) the printed results actually are. As is the case with many cameras these days, the EasyShare V610 has built-in memory instead of a bundled memory card. The V610 has 32MB of built-in memory (of which only 28MB can be used for photo storage), which holds fourteen photos at the highest quality setting. Despite that, you'll still want to buy a memory card, and I suggest a 256MB or 512MB card as a good place to start. The V610 uses Secure Digital or MultiMedia cards, and a high speed memory card is not a required purchase.

PARROT PARTY SPEAKER

9 August 2007 - Parrot, the makers of all things Bluetooth, are pushing their credentials even harder with the launch of the Parrot Party, a light and compact mobile wireless speaker. But can the sound impress as much as the company's BoomBox? We get listening to find out.
Small, compact and shaped like a dog bone - it's about the size of a drinks flask - the main focus of the Parrot party, is that it allows you to send your music to it from any Bluetooth Stereo (A2DP) music source such as a mobile phone, MP3 player or PC with just one click and then enjoy the results.
This isn’t Parrot's first wireless speaker – their Sound System and Boombox have previously been launched in the UK, but it is their first portable offering, and at 23cm long, weighing 620 grams and with a 4-hour rechargeable battery it is certainly that.
Despite being lightweight, the Parrot Party delivers surprisingly good sound performance via the Class D-amplifier and two 2 x 3 Watt wide-band speakers.
In addition to the normal mode, there are two sound features which promise you more for your money; "Stereo Widening", which enlarges the stereophony, and "Virtual SuperBass" which promises to reinforces the bass frequencies.
In practice and they do add something to the overall noise, however neither should be the main reason for buying the Parrot Party. We aren't sure why they bother with the choice apart from then saying you've got two more buttons to press. Hey if it's good you are going to want it on all the time.
If you don’t have a Bluetooth Stereo enabled device then you can still play your music wirelessly by using a dongle, and there is a line-in port too
